Charles Frost was born in Lewiston, Maine, on May 31, 1856. He studied architecture for three years in several architects' offices and completed a special course in architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He became a draftsman in Boston where he worked for three years before moving to Chicago in 1882.
